Making educational dreams come true!

 

In 2018 we founded BECA, a nonprofit organization designed to help Guatemalan children and young adults attend school. In our first year, the generous donations of 50 sponsors provided 39 students with the uniforms, school supplies, tuition, and transportation needed to pursue their educational goals.

Our mission is to help families break the cycle of illiteracy and poverty through education.

Many students would like to stay in school, but secondary education can be financially impossible for families living in poverty. Our organization makes it possible for children to stay in school by eliminating the financial obstacles to basic education.

​

Our Goal

Our goal is to raise enough funds to ensure that every student admitted into our scholarship program gets continued sponsorship until they receive the education for their needed or desired career. We also aspire to add students to the program as finances and volunteers permit.

We are thrilled to announce that we have over 62 sponsored students for the 2021 school year, a 159% increase in just 2 years! We are hoping to support even more students throughout the year. We invite you to donate now to help support a BECA student in 2021. Anyone can help and honestly every donation counts. Whether it is a small donation to help pay for school supplies ($10 can buy a child a new backpack, $50 can pay for a student's books) or a full scholarship, we happily accept any and every donation.​​

How to Donate

​

We ask that you consider donating to BECA, changing the life of a child forever. Below you will find the cost of one year of education based on the type of schooling. 

​

• $200 – Primaria student (grades K-6)

• $350 – Basico student (grades 7-9)

• $600 – Carera student (grades 10-12)

• $700-$1500 – vocational training and college

Sponsorships cover school registration, monthly school fees, books and supplies, backpacks, uniforms, school shoes, PE uniforms and shoes, excursion, special class fees, and levies by the school placed on families when the school needs additional money for any reason.
